Irving Penn

What is it about Penn's photography that provides such engaging style that lasts the test of time. Is it simply black and white photography that allows him to assert his creative penmanship or is it how he always managed to craft together all the various elements within the picture, from the muse to the background, to the props to the lighting. No matter what the answer is, Irving Penn is undoubtedly an iconic photographer.
